ITINERARY

DAY 1 (WEDNESDAY)

Relax on our motor coach as we work our way down to Williamsburg, VA. Upon our arrival we will meet our dedicated local guide who will join us this evening for another included group diner at a colonial tavern.

DAY 2 (THURSDAY)

After our included breakfast, head to Colonial Williamsburg.  Engage in conversation with a diverse array of well-researched, costumed historic interpreters — from Revolutionary thought leader James Madison to the first-known ordained Black Baptist preacher Gowan Pamphlet; from Martha Washington, the first First Lady, to Oconostota, a Cherokee leader. Guests can ask questions and inspect the work products of dozens of expert artisans, historic trade shops and sites. The Colonial Williamsburg area is extensive, over 300 acres! Bring good walking shoes. A map will be provided.

After lunch on your own in Colonial Williamsburg’s Merchant’s Square, we will visit the Yorktown Battlefield.  Discover what it took for the United States to be independent as you explore the site of the last major battle of the Revolutionary War.  Here at Yorktown, in the fall of 1781, General George Washington, with allied American and French forces, besieged General Charles Lord Cornwallis’s British army.  On October 19, Cornwallis surrendered, effectively ending the war and ensuring independence.

After checking into our Virginia Beach Oceanfront hotel, join the group for an included dinner followed by a waffle cone demo and ice cream tasting at Doumar’s.

DAY 3 (FRIDAY)

After breakfast, we will head to The Norfolk NATO Festival Parade of Nations, the longest continuously running parade in Hampton Roads and the only parade in the United States honoring NATO! Over 70 Parade Units with local and visiting high school bands, U.S. and International Military bands, and colorful floats representing the NATO Member Nations!

Admission to Nauticus & the Battleship Wisconsin will be provided.  Nauticus is a maritime discovery center located along the waterfront in downtown, Norfolk, VA, offering a unique form of experiential learning for all ages. Through interactive exhibits and STEM to STERN programming, Nauticus uses the museum, Battleship Wisconsin, sailing center, and Schooner Virginia to tell the story of the maritime environment, industry, and the military.

Before dinner this evening, we will drive to Norfolk for Hullabaloo outdoor pre-show at Scope.  Choose from a variety of food trucks and restaurants within a few blocks of Scope. This evening is “A CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM” at the 2024 VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL TATTOO.  The heartbeat of the 2024 Virginia International Tattoo will be its incredible international cast featuring more than 800 performers from 7 nations, including: Massed Pipes and Drums and the Virginia International Tattoo Highland Dance Company.  The soul of the Tattoo will be an emotional and grateful Celebration of Freedom, 80 years from the D-Day landing and 75 years from the founding of NATO.  This Tattoo will remind us that as Americans, we have helped write some of the greatest chapters in the history of human freedom.  With stirring music, historic photos and video, tributes from U.S. Military bands and appearances by special guests, we will remember and celebrate the men and women who have safeguarded freedom not only for the United States but all for the world.

DAY 4 (SATURDAY)

After breakfast today, there will be time on your own for relaxing, shopping, and strolling the boardwalk at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Early lunch on your own if you desire.

Later today visit the Chrysler Museum of Art and Glass Studio in Norfolk followed by time at the Military Aviation Museum, home to one of the world's largest collections of warbirds in flying condition. It includes examples from Germany, France, Italy, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, from both World War I and World War II, and its complete collection ranges from the 1910s to the early 1950s.
