ITINERARY

DAY 1 (THURSDAY) -

Welcome aboard the Fall Foliage Special to our nation’s capital. Our destination is the Washington DC area.

Hotel info: Hampton Inn

DAY 2 (FRIDAY) -

After breakfast, we will travel to Washington D.C. Our first stop is the World War II Memorial. The newest memorial honors the 16 million who served in the U.S. armed forces during World War II, the more than 40,000 who died and the millions who supported the war effort from home. If we are fortunate enough to catch the fall foliage at peak, we will devote some time to the Tidal Basin. Our second stop is the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial and the Korean and Lincoln Memorials.

Lunch will be at Union Station. This afternoon, we’ll visit the National Museum of American History and the Natural History Museum. In the afternoon we’ll visit Arlington National Cemetery, remembering all who have died for our great country. We will also visit the Tomb of the Unknowns. This evening we’ll lighten things up by enjoying refreshments at the George Washington Tavern.

DAY 3 (SATURDAY) -

This morning we’ll visit Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington. This is America’s most visited historic house. Mount Vernon sits on a grassy, shaded slope overlooking the Potomac River in Virginia. This southern plantation standing on the banks of the river, is both George Washington’s home and his final resting-place. This afternoon we’ll visit many memorials: the FDR Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the US Holocaust Memorial, and Union Station. Then we’ll have dinner. After dinner we’ll visit the Iwo Jima Statue (one of the largest bronze statues ever sculpted.) This statue depicts an American Flag being raised on Mount Suribachi during World War II, and commemorates all Marines who have been in battle since 1775.

DAY 4 (SUNDAY) -

This morning, our first stop will be an optional U.S. Capital Building tour with our local guide. Our Second stop will be the Smithsonian Museum where we will have free time to visit the National Air and Space Museum’s Arts and Industries Building, the American Indian Museum, the National Portrait gallery, the Botanical Gardens, and much more.

DAY 5 (MONDAY) -

Today, we will travel back home from our memorable visit in Washington DC.
